Wellcome to Biblically Rooted Reminders! This is a devotional series of verses that help me ground myself in God's word, and abide in Him as I go about my day. My hope is that this blesses you also!

Today's post centers around God's care for His children and the belonging we have in Him. The first verse focuses on something we can learn about God, the second is a truth about how God made us, and the third helps have a spiritual perspective on life.

Verse #1 is 1 Peter is 3:12

"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

To give a little context, Peter is quoting Psalm 34:12-16 in his instructions to the scattered church. The topic he's adressing is suffering for the faith, and he's encouraging the believers to continue doing good, and repay evil with blessings. Three things stand out to me from this passage: God activly pays attention to his children, He hears us, and He maintains justice. I can only imagine how encouraging that would have been to 1st centery believers facing persecution as they probably struggled with those things in light of their circumstances. God does see and hear his children wherever they are.

Verse #2 is Psalm 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

This entire psalm of praise is so beautiful! The highlight to me in verses 13-14 (which are above) is that #1 God is so amazing for how incredible he made humanity. #2 he made each of us with so much intentionality, we are not accidents, and we are beautiful in His eyes.

Verse #3 is Philippians 3:20

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

This verse comes from a powerful message Paul and Timothy are giving the Philippian Church about having their confidence be from their faith in Christ not their fleshly credentials. In verses 18-20 Paul is contrasting both the future and fleshly priorities of those who oppose the cross, with the future of believers and is encouraging them to set their mind on heavenly priorities. As I thought about the ways this effects my life and walk with God the word belonging came to mind. The idea that our home, our citizenships, our life is in heaven brings a sense of spiritual belonging, and purpose living life according to the kingdome of God.

In Reflection

I reccomend reading through the chapters these were taken from, and spend time in worship remembering how great God is, and all the things he's done for you. Picking maybe one verse to memorize, write out, or send to a friend are a couple more things I'm working on doing to help it in sink in deven deeper. I hope this post has blessed you, and I would love to hear to takeaways, or analysis of these passages in the comments.

With Love,

Rosie
